For a child who has lost their hair, the experience can be traumatic. Juanita’s Alopecia Kids Foundation raises funds to pay for their hair systems through donations and sponsors.
Sharmele West- JAK Founder
Sharmele, a mom and grandmom, a cosmetologist, an educator, hair replacement specialist and salon owner, brings over 25 years of cosmetology experience. Sharmele started this non-profit organization after the loss of her mother to Colon Cancer in 2013. While her mother was alive, together they began rebranding her salon into a non-surgical hair replacement center. Noticing how many children were suffering from hair loss, Sharmele wanted to do more and after losing her mom she felt this would be a great gift to give in honor of her. With Juanita’s passion for giving and caring for everyone’s children instilled in Sharmele, this foundation has created an avenue for Sharmele to continue on Juanita’s legacy in the best way she can.
